Gurt, Pist, Bong Cauldron
Groovy sludge heroes Gurt have just announced that they’ll be heading out on a UK tour with Pistand Bong Cauldron in April next year, so if it’s big, greasy riffs you’re after, here are a few dates to put in your calendar…
Since forming back in 2010, Gurt have pretty damn prolific indeed, releasing no less than 5 EPs, splits with bands like Dopefight and Limb and, most recently, their debut full-length ‘Horrendosaurus’. As any of you who caught their triumphant appearance at this year’s Bloodstock festival will attest, these guys are on fire at the moment, so don’t miss this opportunity to catch them in tiny venues while you still can!
Mancunian newcomers Pist have recently released their debut EP ‘Riffology’ (recorded in one weekend at Skyhammer Studios with producer Chris Fielding at the helm), which, as the name implies, certainly doesn’t skimp on the riff front. Check it out below – we’re sure they’ll be a fine addition to this bill…
Meanwhile, Bong Cauldron have been steadily refining their sound during shows with the likes of Sunwølf, Windhand and Pilgrim, and their dense, bottom heavy sludge-a-thons contain just the right amount of up-beat, hard rockin’ groove to open up that pit whilst simultaneously crushing the crowd into a fine paste.
