OneFiveEight Expo:03

Saturday 17 May The theme for our third exhibition is Artwork inspired by Audio, so before we could create any visuals we needed some sounds! The Audio In January we asked our social media followers and a range of musicians to supply tracks for this project, and it’s safe to say we have been overwhelmed by the standard supplied. The 25 chosen submissions range from field recordings to polished dance floor fillers by unknown musicians and signed artists from across the globe. Tracks from signed musicians include Indigo, Werkha, Ruane Maurice, Leadbelly and Denis Jones. The Artists The tracks have been randomly distributed to 25 different visual artists with a simple brief. To create a visual response to the music. The artists we have chosen for this project come from all types of visual disciplines including Photography, Illustration, Street Artists and Videographers. These include Mary Stark, Hassan Trossain (Super Crafts), Mark Jermyn, Tank Petrol, Dan Birkbeck and Micheal Holland. The Exhibition – Saturday 17th May 11am – 8pm All the results will be exhibited at the OneFiveEight Expo:03 event at the Kraak Gallery on Saturday 17th May. Each audio piece will be available to stream by scanning a code using a QR scanner and smart phone at our exhibition, SO PLEASE BRING HEADPHONES and a SMARTPHONE WITH BARCODE SCANNER APP to take full advantage of the audio and artwork at the same time. The After Party – Saturday 17th May 8pm – 4am Once you’ve filled your eyes in the exhibition we’ll be moving across the ally to the Kraak Event Space. With the OneFiveEight resident DJ’s spinning a varied bag of dance floor nuggets late in to the night. So bring your dancing shoes, a OneFiveEight event always ends in a right good...

Featuring original artwork from The OneFiveEight collective. onefiveeight.co.uk Guest artists include Tasha Whittle Tankpetrol Darren Adcock Kerry Howarth Dan Birkbeck Josh Horsley Mary Stark Line Up: SOCCER 96 Soccer96 are a stripped-down, amped-up analogue synth vs live drum assault. The 2-piece from Brighton/London formed in 2009 over a mutual love of SNES, meditation and warehouse raves, have received attention for their fresh take on the electronic synth/beat scene by playing everything completely live, with no laptops, sequencers or software, using only old-school analogue synths. The generator blog recently described Soccer96 as ‘thrilling as FIFA’s 16-bit Megadrive outing, a rabble-rousing fusion of post-punk, math-rock and electronica, borne out of a twisted mix of tortured synths, live drums and Gameboy keyboards.’ Their self-titled debut L.P. released on the Demons Are Real label in march this year captures this aesthetic perfectly and was engineered by Joe Watson (Stereolab) and mastered by Kelly Hibbert (Flying Lotus). RAIKES PARADE Andy Blundell AKA Raikes Parade is a musician/producer currently residing in Manchester. After spending a couple of years in bands he now produces his own solo projects. Incorporating live instrumentation with digital production techniques. He works closely with Herbal Sessions soundsystem, OneFiveEight projects, Gnod & Nucleus Roots.
