Woog Riots, Glyn Bailey and the Many Splendid Things, Amida & Doris And The Jumpers, Blackjack

In summer 2013 the German/Italian duo Woog Riots will present their new album with the programmatic title “From Lo-Fi to Disco!” and that’s what perfectly describes the Woog Riots sound: a unique mixture consisting of quirky indie pop, boy/girl vocals with a Lo-Fi attitude of singing, electronic beats and synthesizers. Some call it tweelectro!

The band’s upbeat live shows have been celebrated from across Europe from Helsinki to London and across the Atlantic in New York and San Francisco. In their songs you might recognize sounds of DFA, Moldy Peaches, Young Marble Giants, B-52’s and many more.

Glyn Bailey and The Many Splendid Things are set to release their new album “Happiness” on 31st August 2013. Glyn has already released three previous works as well as having a long career in amongst the music scene of the North West of England.
The new collection may be lightened with flashes of his trademark dark humour. “Happiness” weaves a musical spell, with seductive melodies and addictive hooks to draw the listener into what seems to be a familiar and pleasant landscape, while the lyrics offer glimpses of menace lurking in the shadows.

Amida are a pop band from Manchester who have released a number of EPs and played festivals as far as Berling and New York. Their last EP “My Life As A Trashcan” is available from Jigsaw Records (jigsaw-records.com) and was reviewed by the blog ‘A Layer Of Chips’:

‘There’s a dark edge that runs throughout, especially on tracks such as ‘Thank Constantine’, but it’s on songs like ‘Starstruck and Forever’, which sounds like The Wedding Present’s underrated late 90s stuff, that Amida really hit the mark. The sneering delivery makes it all so deliciously defiant, which, together with everything else, makes this record really quite precious.’

Also joining Amida will be Doris and the Jumpers, who will be performing a short set.

Opening proceedings are Blackjack who are currently on a UK tour. Blackjack formed in June 2009 comprising of five musicians who loved the music of the heavy rock and blues scenes, which enveloped the 60′s, 70′s and 80′s. They wanted to cover these songs in their own style whilst developing their own material with the aim of playing the music that they loved to crowds that reciprocated that feeling
