By day we’ll be exhibiting original artwork in the gallery FREE of charge, plus FREE drinks for those who arrive early enough. Then by night our musicians will be showcasing their latest work along side very special guests SOCCER 96. The 2-piece from Brighton/London formed in 2009 over a mutual love of SNES, meditation and warehouse raves, have received attention for their fresh take on the electronic synth/beat scene by playing everything completely live, with no laptops, sequencers or software, using only old-school analogue synths. The generator blog recently described Soccer96 as ‘thrilling as FIFA’s 16-bit Megadrive outing, a rabble-rousing fusion of post-punk, math-rock and electronica, borne out of a twisted mix of tortured synths, live drums and Gameboy keyboards.’ Their self-titled debut L.P. released on the Demons Are Real label in march this year captures this aesthetic perfectly and was engineered by Joe Watson (Stereolab) and mastered by Kelly Hibbert (Flying Lotus).
